A contemporary musician specializing in guitar, fiddle, and banjo, Sam Amidon is known for both his original songs and his often-ambitious updates of traditional folk tunes. Sam’s from Vermont, US and is now based in London. His reliably textured, atmospheric arrangements include a singing voice that's gentle but evocative.
Sam’s material for his eight very successful albums often consists of adventurous reworkings of traditional American ballads, hymns, and work songs, with the New York Times writing that Amidon “transforms all of the songs, changing their colors and loading them with trapdoors.” We’re big fans of Sam’s music and excited he will be opening the De Beauvoir Jazz Festival this year.

With his unmatched talent and fearless approach to music, Joe Webb has a significant impact on the UK jazz landscape, captivating audiences with his extraordinary blend of influences and unwavering passion for his craft. His innovative approach breathes new life into classic jazz idioms, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original. Not only a remarkable performer, but he is also in high demand as a recording artist, showcasing his exceptional skills on both piano and Hammond organ so we’re delighted that he’s made time for us in his very busy schedule to close the festival!

Adrian is a leading exponent of the New Orleans clarinet and has an unrivalled feel for the music he plays. He possesses a wealth of knowledge about the music and players of the city, which we find unparalleled. Renowned for his deep connection to the early jazz tradition, Adrian co-leads the Clarinet Summit at our festival with Giacomo Smith.
In 2018, Adrian was the clarinet choice alongside Giacomo Smith with Wynton Marsalis at the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra for the Benny Goodman celebrations, both in London and New York. Adrian has a distinctly loyal and engaged fan base, evident in his countless sold-out concerts across Europe.

Giacomo is an accomplished jazz clarinettist, saxophonist, and composer known for his distinctive sound and mastery of both traditional and contemporary jazz styles.Born in Italy and raised in the United States, Giacomo developed a deep appreciation for jazz early in life. His career spans a wide range of collaborations, from performances with the Kansas Smitty’s House Band, a collective renowned for its innovative approach to classic jazz, to work with some of the most respected musicians in the jazz world. He has performed with Bireli Lagrene, China Moses, Stephen Riley, Soweto Kinch, Guy Barker, Julian Bliss and many others.
In addition to his career as a performer, Giacomo has produced albums for Jamie Cullum, Damian Lewis, Zara McFarlane, Jas Kayser, and Joe Stilgoe. His versatility allows him to seamlessly blend the virtuosic techniques of earlier jazz traditions with modern sensibilities, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-looking.
